Term 1 Blurbs 2018

Preps:

This term the preps will be learning and refining some of their fundamental motor skills. They will be will be focusing on running and Leaping. Each of the skills will be developed and practiced to help improve students’ skill development. The Prep students will then implement these skills in a number of different games varying in complexity. These games will also help with students’ social interaction and development, including working as a team, fair play and listening to one another.

Year 1

The Year One students this term will be focusing on the fundamental motor skills of the Ball Bounce and beginning an Invasion Game unit. The students will learn the key skills involved in the ball bounce and use these skills in modified games and activities. The invasion game unit will have a focus on students making decisions in regards to different external influences. The key skills for this unit will be on students making positive decisions in a timely manner and responding to different scenarios for the best outcome. These activities will also require students to work effectively with their classmates and participate in a fair and honest manner.

Year 2

The Year Two students this term will be focusing on the fundamental motor skills of the Ball Bounce and beginning an Invasion Game unit. The students will learn the key skills involved in the ball bounce and use these skills in modified games and activities. The invasion game unit will have a focus on students making decisions in regards to different external influences. Year 3

The Year Three students this term will be focusing on Hockey and Cricket this term. The key skills in the Hockey unit will be the push pass, the slap shot, trapping and dribbling. These skills will all be utilized in the overall aim of the unit to participate in a modified Hockey game. The key skills in the Cricket unit will be Bowling, batting and fielding. These skills will again be used used to participate in a modified Cricket match. Students will be required to work effectively as part of a team and participate in a number of games and activities fairly and honestly.

Year 4

The Year Four students this term will be focusing on Hockey and Cricket this term. The key skills in the Hockey unit will be the push pass, the slap shot, trapping and dribbling. Year 5

The Year Five students this term will be participating in a Game Sense unit with the focus on positioning. In this unit student’s focus is not on skill development but on developing decision making skills and the roles and responsibilities of different positions. The aim for the students is to be able to make decision in a variety of minor games with varying levels of complexity. They will also be required to play a particular position and play that role within a team. The focus will be on quick decisions making, positioning and understanding the key roles and responsibilities of certain players within a team dynamic. Students will be required to work effectively as part of a team to successfully implement their strategy and tactics in a game based scenario.

Year 6

The Year Six students this term will be participating in a Game Sense unit with the focus on positioning. In this unit student’s focus is not on skill development but on developing decision making skills and the roles and responsibilities of different positions. The aim for the students is to be able to make decision in a variety of minor games with varying levels of complexity. They will also be required to play a particular position and play that role within a team. The focus will be on quick decisions making, positioning and understanding the key roles and responsibilities of certain players within a team dynamic. Students will be required to work effectively as part of a team to successfully implement their strategy and tactics in a game based scenario.
